The backbone of the Method is Feuerstein’s theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability (SCM). This theory dictates that in order to bring about real transformation, there must be global intervention - the learner must systematically change how they are taught, process and interact with information across all aspects of their being. Feuerstein calls this process the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE). The Mediated Learning Experience is implemented through two applied learning systems; the Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) and Instrumental Enrichment (IE). Together, these systems seek to assess, intervene and develop the learner’s skills.
